And,

Yes. The worrying aspect is that, though the level of control the UN bureaucrats propose is high, this is still only the thin end of the wedge. Should they gain this interim authority, they will then arrogate such further powers to themselves as we innocents find hard to envisage. Imagine them with a free hand to reform education (“children of polluters are not welcome in this school”) or the health system (“you need a new kidney, but they’re not for polluters, sorry”), immigration (“accept these 500,000 climate refugees from the Maldives and don’t pollute our air by building new homes for them”), defence (“you won’t be needing this army again, and we need them for the pollution enforcement teams”), police (“our new priority is the public smoking menace; the criminals will be immediately arrested and imprisoned”), trade (“we’re trebling the price you pay for this tropical timber and you will lower the price of your sheep meat to Kenya by 90%”).

I suspect that, compared with these ruthless green UNFCCC heroes, we will fondly recall other tyrants as mere dull-witted dreamers. And all for “Mother Earth”. Remember that church leaders, whatever the church, have employed the greatest savagery from the purest of motives. What is purer than Mother Earth?

This green raison d’être could persist for half a millenium.

“had better not sign up to this process”? How do we stop them? They’ve already taken the first two steps: signing up to Kyoto in the first instance; introducing an ETS in the second (who cares if they were of different flavour governments at the time?).

And we have Groser in Durban prancing around like a show pony. Scratch their egos and they will do anything – even turning on their backs to allow their tummies to be scratched.

Only a few words for it. The UN is full of greedy green looneys. Our current and any future government had better not sign up to this nonsense.
