I think Corporal Snicklegruber started out with fewer than that, and with no special advantage conferred by online social networking! Aberrational characters such as these act as magnets for those rudderless folk who need to 'believe' in something. 'Save the Planet' is compelling stuff, as Al Gourdo demonstrated.

Students will be asked to take a moment to reflect on the words of renowned climate scientist and father of global warming, Dr James Hansen:-

"The oceans will begin to boil...."

Only then will students fully comprehend the gravity of the prospect that the planet is facing (Tutors please note: counselors may need to be on hand for the expected emotional responses)

Forgot the most important one:-

# Greenhouse gasses "trap heat". Humans keeping warm. cooking their food, making stuff and transporting goods etc are responsible for the morally untenable situation of dangerously mounting levels of GHGs which has already committed the planet to unbearable heat in the pipeline (technical term explained in glossary). The only way to reverse this trend is to tax economies into oblivion.

Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.

Including drugs to keep old people alive. Excluding the internet, obviously — and therefore metals, glass, plastics, electricity generation, fossil fuels, transport, etc.

Agriculture moves to small un-mechanized units.

Strange. That would make it LESS efficient. He hasn't thought THIS one through, heh, heh!

Wow, you do find 'em, Andy.

What's in a name? Actuallly rather a lot, but NZ MSM happily described CAGW due to cow produced CH4 as a 'mistake' for the last decade, and instead - yes, it's the 20% increase in human population in NZ and the resultant CO2 emissions (direct and indirect) that are a major cause for concern, along with their iPod iPhone use and extra power use (even though NZ generates nearly 70% of its power from renewable hydro. As alluded to in an earlier post, any Δt associated with this infinitesimal difference in CO2 is not only far too small to measure, it would lie uselessly within the error bars, and it is impossible to associate causally with humans.

However, this is all sub-text. The important meme derived from stated Green principles is that humanity itself - the populus - is responsible and of course, we all know the 'final solution' to save Gaia from the scourge. Hasn't anyone, and in particular the MSM in NZ, noticed the latest utterances from their High Priest, James Lovelock, who recently admitted to alarmism?

We're being introduced stealthily to the nightmare scenario, where one of the least populous nations on Earth is being educated to consider that population is a 'problem'. This travesty of science and policy making is slowly unraveling as the claims of cause become strident and patently absurd. Sense will prevail when the grant monies are finally depleted!

At a guess, I'm pickin' the syllabus covers the following topics:-

# Sea level rise will necessitate the evacuation of all low lying countries and cities any day now

# Atmospheric temperatures are the warmist evaaarrrrrrr

# Ocean acidification is threatening life as we know it

# The polar ice caps are melting like never before

# Multiple lines of evidence that all sorts of tipping points are just about to tip

# Climate model simulations indicate that the doom is worse than we thought

# Human fossil fuel use must be eradicated (and possibly the humans too)

# Poor countries must be massively subsidized by the (supposedly) rich to save the planet

Not necessarily in that order.
