Taking the heat out of global warming

For the first time in history, people shouting “the end is nigh” are somehow
the sane ones, while those of us who say it is not are now the lunatics.

Al Gore to visit NZ

Richard Treadgold | September 5, 2012

Should I liken him to the Prince of Thieves? Is it seemly for a senior establishment figure to earn an income from the cause he espouses for its worth to humanity?

Oh, wait… they’ve been doing that for hundreds of years.

Anyway, for the record, Al Gore will be in Auckland for an expensive, exclusive dinner and speech on Friday, 12th October 2012.

Need I remind everyone of the UK judgement against his movie “An Inconvenient Truth”? The judge required the film to carry a warning about bias when it was shown to schoolchildren.

Al Gore has made millions of dollars through his firm Generation Investment Management LLP. Its web site describes its investment policy:

Generation’s second strategy invested in both private equity and public companies and is focused exclusively on deploying capital into companies that are part of the transition from a high-carbon to a low-carbon economy.

However, I’m informed that the company does not have many investments in renewable energy and it has just sold out of a big solar energy firm. So at the same time as he is pushing renewable energy, his investment firm is abandoning it.

Can anyone add to this? We want to inform the good people of Auckland who might be wanting to hear Mr Gore that what he has to say won’t be unmitigated goodness.

Say Richard, when Monckton last visited the left wing socialists at TV One’s Q+A deemed him unqualified to talk on the AGW/CC cult issue.
Bet they do NOT take the same view on Gore.

Since it’s open season on Al Gore videos, here is Phelim McAleer asking the Goreacle some tricky questions about An Inconvenient Truth and getting his mike pulled.

Al Gore is just another conman, making $millions promoting his unproven ideas, while enjoying the profits from his carbon trading business.

As the models continue to leave actual temperature readings in their dust, sizeable warming halted about 1995 — although it might resume at any time. It must hasten to have any hope of catching up with the predictions.

If you claim warming continues, we want evidence of continued warming — eminently reasonable. Making us wait for 17 years for that evidence invites us to doubt you.

Claiming that warming hasn't stopped is the same as claiming it has — and both are ridiculous, for nobody knows the future. The best you can do is describe the past.
